Jewellery has always been a big part of my life especially gold jewellery. It's been tradition where my grandma would pass down her jewels to my mom and my mom is to tell me, one day Chriselle, when you get old enough, I'll do the same for you.
What I love most about vintage pieces is that they come with so much history. One of my absolute favourite ways to wear jewellery is mixing my vintage pieces with more modern ones. I always like to start off with the base and that base is usually a vintage piece that has a sentimental value to it. This gold necklace is my mom's I was passed down from my grandmother the day that she got married and of course she passed it down to me last year on my wedding day. I've been wearing this necklace as a base mixed in with my more modern gold pieces. Since this necklace is long I layered a shorter gold necklace above that and I continued to work my way up with shorter necklaces so that they beautifully waterfall down my chest. I've been really into layering dainty delicate necklaces one on top of each other. One of my favourite things to do especially during the holidays is going home. I grew up in a small town called Danville in Northern California and there are a number of amazing vintage shops that I always visit. This bracelet that I found at the vintage store works perfectly with my current favourite gold pieces and just as bracelets can make the simplest of outfits look extremely intricate and glamorous, the right gold jewellery like a classic set of gold rings can do just the same. One of my most coveted pieces from my collection is this gold diamond ring that was passed down to my mom for my grandma the day I was born. My mom thought it was appropriate since I'm born in April and my birthstone is a diamond. She said the diamond is a symbol of inner strength balance clarity and abundance. I balanced it out by stacking on my modern basic gold ring. What I love most about dainty gold rings is that you can wear it on its own for a very simple and classic look or you can add as many as you want to create more of a statement. There are endless varieties and combinations the way you can wear your gold rings. During the holidays I love wearing more bold statement pieces. This vintage emerald ring is one of my most coveted as it is associated with royalty, faithfulness and friendship. What I love about rings is that you're able to wear in multiple ways. Not only can you wear it on your fingers but you can also wear it around your neck as a necklace. This is a great way to modernize a vintage heirloom by making it into a charm necklace. Here I pair my mom's vintage emerald rings with more dainty modern ones, because it's such a large piece, I paired it with delicate modern pieces to keep the focal point on the ring. The reason why I love investing into dainty gold bands is that you can wear them in isolation, with other rings or stagger them along your fingers to adorn your knuckles. I opted for these gold star earrings rather than a necklace since this dress has a high halter neckline. When working with statement pieces it's all about finding the perfect balance. I find it more unique and special when I make the match vintage and modern bracelets together. This bracelet that I found at a vintage store works perfectly with my current favourite gold pieces. Since this vintage gold bracelet is a bit thicker I like to work around it making it the focal point by adding things here and more delicate gold bracelets for the perfect gold arm party. With the right gold jewellery even the most simplest of outfits can look extremely intricate and glamorous. I think it's safe to say that whether it be a vintage heirloom or a modern piece gold never goes out of style. It's classic, yet modern, elegant yet extremely trendy. There are really no rules on how to wear gold jewellery but I hope that these little tips have helped you out on layering your own gold masterpiece this season. My only advice to you, is mix and match and make it your own, and of course, stay chic.
